Dr Koray Feran, London Centre for Implant and Aesthetic Dentistry (LCIAD)
Intrafit had worked with Dr Feran on previous cabinetry installations and so we were simultaneously excited and a little apprehensive when we heard he was setting up his own practice. Dr Feran sets high standards, the rooms are huge and we knew he would have a lot of design input. Aesthetics and functionality were equally important and needed to be of the highest quality.
The new site was newly renovated and, like most of Marylebone, was part of the Howard de Walden estate. The building would have to be treated sympathetically but we still needed to create a state-of-the-art facility that achieved best practice for infection and decontamination regulations. To further complicate matters, Dr Feran would be re-using some of his existing Parapan fronted cabinetry, installed by Intrafit, from his existing surgery just over the road.
The surgery on the lower ground floor was to be for associates. The initial brief was for something simple.
By the time we got to Revision F, the room had grown into one of the most complicated and well appointed rooms we have produced. 38 drawers, 5 up-and-over units, custom bin units, wall units and a separate desk area. The fit-out went as smoothly as could be expected in a grand Victorian-era mansion block.
Intrafit supplied detailed service drawings and so by the time we arrived on site, all the plumbing and electrical services were in the correct places. The installation of the cabinetry took 2 weeks. Dr Feran’s room took an entire week. This is exceptional for us: we could normally fit out an entire practice in a week.
We were pretty pleased with the result. An enormous amount of equipment is both hidden and easily accessible. The layout looks clean and uncluttered and is sympathetic to the building.
